In Austria’s largest biking region, the Matzalm Trail stands as a genuine celebration of nature: this handcrafted single trail showcases exceptional craftsmanship and a profound love for the alpine natural landscape of the Saalfelden-Leogang region. Rooty sections, tight turns, and breathtaking mountain views ensure heart-pounding moments.
Signature Trail in Saalfelden Leogang
The Matzalm Trail combines the region’s natural relief with the bike park‘s art of trail building, thus creating a unique natural trail.
Many routes in the bike park as well as the trail structure around the bike park in Saalfelden Leogang have been developed further in recent years. The Matzalm Trail is one of the first trails that has been created in this way. You access a wonderful, natural trail that meanders through the forest across roots and rocks, leading downhill through narrow bends. A narrow strip shows the way through fern, mosses and pristine giant trees.
The name giving Matzalm is passed in the lower third and is followed by the Embachalm shortly afterwards. From there, the trail continues across open alpine meadows with the Leogang Mountains always in sight. This gigantic karst mountain range, with its impressive appearance, is traversed by caves.

The Saalfelden Leogang region boasts a total of 14 Gault Millau toques (roughly equivalent to Michelin stars in Germany) spread across seven restaurants.
