Signature Trail in Olang - Kronplatz, South Tyrol
Dragon Taming Made Easy: Fun takes center stage on the Dragon Trail Singletrack. The blue Dolomites Dragon Trail gently winds from the mountain station at Kronplatz directly to the middle station. Over the 2 km, there are some adventures to conquer, but even for novices and rookies, they are easily manageable. What remains is a broad grin and a bit more experience.

It sounds fierce but is actually tame. The Dragon Trail meanders from the summit of the Kronplatz over the gentle slope to the middle station of the Olang 1+2.
Yet the dragon tamers will need a bit of courage: after all, on 2 km you have to cross the dragon’s head and dragon’s tail and the floating bridge in the “Schafslacke”. The panoramic views of the Dolomites are the reward for your gallant courage. As the trail is classified as “easy”, beginners can also set off on the adventure. And if you feel like it, you can go back up in the cable car and take on another round of taming the dragon.
WORTH KNOWING
The name Kronplatz is derived from the Ladin toponym “Plan de Corones.” In the Fanes saga, Kronplatz is the place where Dolasilla, the invincible princess of the Fanes realm, was crowned.
INSIDER TIP
Ash and cherry, mountain maple, and the fragrant Swiss pine, which thrives in the higher elevations of the Ahrntal, form the basis for traditional South Tyrolean wood carving, which is particularly widespread in the Dolomite region. So, those strolling through Olang are unlikely to miss the charming wood carvings by Konrad and Rosa Bachmann.
