Hans and Franz: There are hardly any more legendary mountain bike trails through the Alps than the Herrnsteig Singletrail. The legend, as the Signature Trail is also called, offers pure high-alpine enduro enjoyment. Its two variants, Hans and Franz, provide technically challenging and scenically diverse forms of play. There is hardly a more beautiful way to experience the Puster Valley.

The Herrnsteig is a legend – wild and with plenty of views, it leads into the valley and really delights everyone with its options Hans and Franz.
The signature trail Herrnsteig in Bruneck, Dolomites region Kronplatz starts with some banked curves, jumps and fast crossings. The main ridge of the Alps and Puster Valley deep below stays always in sight. After a short time, the trail enters the dense forest. Here is the trail steeper, rootier and more demanding in terms of technique.
To give boredom no chance here, the trail builders have come up with something very special for mountain bikers. Hans and Franz offer two different Herrnsteig options in the lower part. Steep, demanding in terms of technique and with small climb backs time and again, Franz meanders through the dense forest. Hans starts at the end of this trail and picks up the character of Franz.
WORTH KNOWING
At the summit of Kronplatz, you’ll find the Lumen Museum, dedicated to mountain photography across 1,800 square meters. From historical shots to digital innovations, the museum hosts exciting exhibitions.
INSIDER TIP
During the BIKE Transalp 2022, the Herrnsteig was part of the 2nd stage and marked the start of the final descent from Kronplatz down to Bruneck.
