Signature Trail in Nauders at the Reschenpass
Three-Country Border Bike Bucket List #1: Tank Barriers at 2,000 m. During the diverse ride between the mountain station of the Bergkastel Cable Car and Lake Reschen, you cross the border between Italy and Austria. This journey also takes you past the imposing tank barriers on the Plamort Plateau. A informative history lesson and a challenging signature trail gem seamlessly crafted into one.

The Plamort Trail combines history with an incredible panoramic view and an eventful path downhill to the lake.
The Plamort Trail crosses borders in many respects – it combines nature, culture, history, panorama and pure trail pleasure to a perfect mix. The view opens again just a few metres behind the impressive tank barriers on the Plamort Plateau. Here you can enjoy views across Upper Vinschgau from Lake Reschensee to the Ortler Massif.
The Plamort Trail gets to the heart or rather the line of the region. At the start, the natural trail meanders along the slope – always with view to the lake and in steady waves. It finally disappears in the forest and continues through dozens of bends downhill to the lake and thus to Italy.
INSIDER TIP
The tower in Lake Reschen is the symbol of Vinschgau and, despite its less idyllic history, appears picturesque. After World War II, Lake Reschen and Lake Graun were dammed against the will of the Upper Vinschgau residents, resulting in many losing their livelihoods. Since then, only the tower of the 14th-century church remains visible.
INSIDER TIP
The historic Stieralm is located directly along the trail and is a beacon project that combines tradition, Nauder history, and excellent service into a sustainable gastronomic concept. The large sun terrace offers a magnificent view at 2,000 m.
